More than one-third of the conventional PC market is on the verge of being replaced by smartphones and tablet computers in the coming year and this trend shows no signs of slowing. Nearly every organization across the globe has been moved by digital transformation while IT leaders are constantly racing to leap ahead of new customer expectations and behaviours. As a result, app development has become central to IT strategy. Seventy-nine percent of IT teams are developing apps for customers and employees and, nearly 90% of new apps launching in the next 12 months will be created with a mobile-first mind-set.
  2. Cloud Computing — Businesses are now looking for interesting ways to scale back on overhead and infrastructure costs, they are moving rapidly to Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) and other cloud-based computing solutions. By growing consumer confidence in this new technology, more and more firms are encouraging the advantages of shifting their software applications to private cloud networks. As the economy recovers and growth resumes, these solutions allow for low-cost, on-demand scalability.
  3. Virtualization –With cloud computing and SaaS revolutionizing the way companies access their software applications, recent trends in virtualization are allowing businesses to delete the complete server farms and slash the associated costs. In addition to streamlining and making IT infrastructure more economical and flexible, server virtualization has presented the framework for more strategic IT initiatives. As a result, Infrastructure-as-a-Service (in which companies rely on equipment owned by service providers) and Platform-as-a-Service (IaaS with a software development framework) are also growing in popularity.
  4. Telework/Virtual Offices –With cloud computing capabilities and other advancements in office connectivity growing rapidly, companies all over the world are realizing the cost-saving benefits of virtual office environments. By moving distant from original physical office-based business models toward remote and private network structures, more and more businesses are taking advantage of this new technology to increase productivity.
  5. Alternative Productivity Applications – Inspired by the recent economic downfall, companies are now looking for new ways of improving productivity, growing employee efficiency and improving their overall business. In this attempt, new solutions in videoconferencing, unified communications and business intelligence applications will continue to be devised, grow and develop, since they help employees to work collectively and together in remote office environments.
